Umuganura Celebration in Southern Province
all districts of the Southern Province celebrated the traditional harvest festival, Umuganura. At the provincial level, the event was hosted in Ngera Sector, Nyaruguru District, where citizens gathered together with Governor Alice Kayitesi, members of the District Executive Committee, security organs, and local residents to rejoice in the achievements of the season.
In her speech, Governor Kayitesi Alice emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in sustaining progress. She encouraged citizens to share harvests with those who had not reached the expected yields, thereby strengthening solidarity within communities. She also issued a strong call to avoid substandard alcohol, stressing that protecting health is a cornerstone of family and community well‑being. Furthermore, she urged citizens to love their work and perform it diligently, as productivity and discipline are essential drivers of development.
