TuriMuRuhango: A Celebration of Culture and Development in Ruhango

On August 16, 2026, Ruhango District hosted a major cultural event, “TuriMuRuhango”, which brought together more than 6,000–7,000 participants from across Rwanda. The gathering featured discussions on Rwandan history and culture, exhibitions showcasing innovation and development projects, as well as traditional dances and poetry performances. The event aimed to preserve cultural values while sharing the achievements of national development.

The Governor of the Southern Province, Kayitesi Alice, joined residents and local leaders in Ruhango for the occasion. In her remarks, she emphasized that “TuriMuRuhango” is a program designed to support citizens who still need guidance, helping them to rise and achieve sustainable development.

She reminded participants that the progress made over the past 32 years has been driven by Rwandans’ ability to find homegrown solutions rooted in their culture and by fostering innovation. She added that the event was also a moment to reflect on achievements, especially as it coincided with the month dedicated to Umuganura, Rwanda’s traditional harvest festival.

Governor Kayitesi further encouraged citizens to celebrate the gains from agriculture and industry, while sharing the opportunities available in Ruhango. She underlined that sharing and appreciating national achievements is a pathway to strengthening unity and advancing Rwanda’s development.
