Minister Nsanzimana Sabin and Governor Kayitesi Alice Launch Two‑Day Southern Province Visit Focused on Primary Healthcare Services

On September 11, 2026, Minister Nsanzimana Sabin, accompanied by Governor Kayitesi Alice, began a two‑day visit to the Southern Province focusing on the delivery of primary healthcare services. On the first day, the Minister toured several health facilities in Nyanza District, including Nyamiyaga Health Center, the Giti and Gasoro health posts, and the Nyanza District Hospital. The main objective of the visit was to assess the quality of healthcare services and engage with health workers, including Community Health Workers, on their role in advancing primary healthcare. Minister Nsanzimana emphasized that providing accessible and high‑quality healthcare services is one of the country’s key priorities in building a health system that truly serves Rwandans.

Later in the day, the Minister held a discussion with students and youth who were participating in friendly sports matches to celebrate the start of the new school year. He encouraged them to take care of their health through regular physical exercise and to avoid harmful substances such as drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vape products, and other practices that damage brain development, cause chronic illnesses, and undermine their dignity. He also urged them to stay away from negative peer influence and instead invest in their health, describing it as the most valuable asset that will benefit themselves, their families, and the nation.

This visit was both an opportunity to evaluate healthcare services and to deliver an important message to the youth about safeguarding their health. The program continued in Huye District on September 12, 2026.
