Gisagara District | Closing of the Gender Inclusive Finance Initiative
On September 3, 2026, Gisagara District hosted the official closing ceremony of the Gender Inclusive Finance Policy Initiative. This program was implemented through the “Gendana Konti” and “Gira Agatubutse” approaches, in partnership with the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).
The event was attended by Southern Province Executive Secretary NSHIMIYIMANA VĂ©daste, the Executive Director of BNR, and the Mayor of Gisagara District. In their remarks, leaders emphasized that the initiative aims to empower women by encouraging them to save money, use MoMo mobile transfers, and collaborate with financial institutions to strengthen their economic resilience.
Participants highlighted that such programs promote gender equality in finance, enhance women’s ability to improve their livelihoods, and enable them to play a more active role in the socio-economic development of their families and communities.
