TVET SCHOOLS PRINCIPALS SET TO ADAPT TO NEW TVET POLICY
Southern Province’s TVET schools principals have met the Minister of state in charge of TVET, to discuss the new policy and orientation of the TVET schools, and how better all institutions can jointly adapt to them, this was discussed during the meeting which brought together all TVET schools in the Province, the Vice Mayors in charge of Social affairs, and other staff in whose responsibilities, include education, a meeting which was chaired by MoS MINEDUC, Hon Rwamukwaya Olivier, with Hon Governor Mme Mureshyankwano Marie Rose, this Thursday 16th of November 2017.
In their presentations, the vice mayors have presented the status of the TVET schools in their districts, based on figures, also illustrating the challenges found in those schools also proposing way forward, for the better future of these schools, and among the challenges, small number of girls turning up for vocational schools, insufficient learning materials, and the mindset of the parents who undermine the importance of Vocational schools.
The joint actions to be taken for the above illustrated challenges, were to increase awareness and reinforce mobilization to change the mindset, and portray the importance of those schools by increasing the quality of Education, and this will only be a success, only if, all concerned institutions join hands but also having common understanding of what is going to be done.
Principals of the schools were urged not to resist some new policies regarding TVET schools, and to respect the decisions which will be made after a serious inspections which are going to be conducted within their schools, also being requested to be cooperative.
Hon Minister, also told the participants that, all vocational schools are now under the responsibility of Districts, not WDA as they used to, and also IPRCs under National Polytechnic body, which will be soon operational.
