SOUTHERN PROVINCE SPECIAL CATEGORIES PLEDGE TO JOIN THE FIGHT TO ERADICATE HUMAN SECURITY ISSUES
The representatives of Special categories namely, National youth council, National Women council, and the National commission of persons with Disabilities, during their first ever meeting with Honorable Governor of the Southern Province CG Gasana K. Emmanuel, pledged to join the fight towards eradication of Human security issues which is still as an impediment to the development of the people of this Province.
This was agreed on, during a retreat that was deliberately summoned by Honorable Governor, in order to meet various partners in the development of the Province, this Monday the 05th November 2018.
In his remark, Honorable during this retreat, Governor has recognized the role of these special categories in the development of this country, starting from the Southern Province. And ensured full support of the leadership of the country. “Under the good leadership of this country by H.E Paul Kagame, we have fought complex battles to make this country the way it is today. And now can we really take Human security issues as an unbeatable enemy?” he asked. And “No”, they replied.
In conclusion, special categories agreed to actively join the battle towards eradication of Human Security issues, starting by taking simple actions that don’t require huge budget. They also pledged to enhance cooperation with their local leaders, and urged to unceasingly reflect on ten key priorities that guide the framework in the Southern Province Namely, Understanding and mastering the political ideology, commit to Quality service delivery, Addressing the issues of Human Security, Increase the access to energy (water and Electricity), Modernizing agriculture for productivity, Strategic partnership and cooperation, Capacity building for employment creation, Embracing IT/E-Governance, Human settlement and Innovation & Change.
Among other issues illustrated by special categories, insufficient budget vis a vis the planned activities was the main constraint, that impedes their daily activities. And here, Honorable Governor ensured continuous advocacy on this but still stressed on starting by small actions that don’t require huge budget, and that the rest will fall in line.
Among other pledges, Honorable Governor promised a strict follow up, to facilitate the members of the executive committees of these special categories in communication through the use of Closed User Group (CUG) up to the Sector level.
