SOUTHERN PROVINCE LEADERSHIPS MEETS LEADERS OF ALL CHURCHES IN THE SOUTHERN REGION
The meeting was called by the leaderships of the Southern Province to discuss about the role of churches, in mobilization and mind changing of their behaviors, over various government programs, and the improvement of human security in southern region, and the meeting was chaired by Mme Mureshyankwano Marie Rose, the Governor of the Southern Province, at the Southern Province headquarters, this Thursday 22 of feb 2018.
In her welcoming remark, Hon governor, portrayed the importance of the religion and churches in the life Rwandan people, the reason why the government of Rwanda, doesn’t invade into internal organization of the churches, however, the leadership of the country, gives responsibility to churches to also participate in other corporate social responsibility actions, by just helping in mobilization of various government programs, which aims at uplifting the lives of Rwandans.
And during open discussion, the representatives of the churches, agreed their role in improving the social life of their people, and admitted to invest in more efforts, especially in various important campaigns, such as, hygiene and sanitation, health insurance, fighting family quarrels, and many other campaigns whose aims are to advance human security in southern region.
Another illustrated challenge to good relationship between leaders and religious people is the unrecognized churches and preachers, so called miracle performers, who, out of inattention may perform some weird rituals which may cost lives or other damages, like some who may refuse their people to see the doctor until they die, or those who may rape their faithful ones in the name of healing or praying for them.
The meeting ended, taking joint actions to overcome, by all means all these challenges, and to jointly make efforts to strive for human security improvement, and the leaders of the churches have pledged to help the leadership of the country in other corporate social responsibility actions.
