COOPERATION BETWEEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND R.C.A IS VITAL TO PROMOTE LOCAL COOPERATIVES
This was part of the resolutions taken during the meeting, between southern Provincial leadership and Rwanda Cooperatives Agency (R.C.A), to harmonize framework aiming to promote the lives of cooperatives in the Southern Province, a meeting which has taken place in Muhanga District this Wednesday 10th of October 2017, chaired by Hon Governor Madam Mureshyankwano Marie Rose and the Director General of RCA Mr Habyarimana Gilbert.
Among the illustrated difficulties, that cooperatives are facing, the mismanagement of finances, which is the pillar to all other problems, the inconsistent monitoring of the fund by the administration board, which also results the mismanagement of the funds.
After various presentations and discussions, participants agreed to reinforce inspections and internal audit within cooperatives, and to make sure that local leaders, through sector cooperatives officers, are working closely with the cooperatives, and they exercise constant visits to cooperatives, and to share the findings with Districts leaders, province and R.C.A.
In his remark the Director General of R.C.A, has expressed his gratitude, for the efforts invested in, by the Southern Province to get a rid of all problems which are being found in cooperatives, where he insisted on sharing information, and take action before situations get worse.
Honorable Governor, insisted on cooperation saying, it is the vital component, on this journey of promoting cooperatives in the Southern Province, and pledged a tight collaboration with R.C.A, she also stated her joy, for having made joint decisions towards promotion of cooperatives.
Rwanda has 8500 cooperatives so far, which covers more than 3,5millions Rwandese people and Southern Province itself has 1670 cooperatives, and some of them are still struggling to grow.
