AGRICULTURAL SEASON B LAUNCHED IN RUSENGE
The agricultural season B, has been officially launched in Nyaruguru District, in Rusenge Sector, Agatobwe marchland, by planting Irish potatoes seeds, on 30ha, where the leadership of the District, was joined by The Executive secretary of the Province, Mr Mushaija Geoffrey, this Tuesday 27th of February 2018.
In his remark, The Executive Secretary, has called for the members of the cooperative using that marshland, to use fertilizers, other necessary chemicals, and selected seeds to increase the productivity per surface, he again appealed to them, to spare some space, where anti erosional grasses can be planted, which will also help in protecting the Agatobwe river.
He again requested them, to start thinking on how to avail funds, which will enable them to survive and their plants to resist, in case the climate abruptly falls unfriendly.
In the Southern Province, the progress is so far good, from land preparations, to planting, but they are some other area where reinforcement is needed, according to figures, where the distribution of fertilizers through twigire Muhinzi program is at 89%, Maize plantation is at 42%, Beans at 32%, Rice 75%, Irish potatoes at 13%, soya bean 11%, and Cassava at 84%.
