Nyanza, 04th August, 2012 This Friday August 3rd 2012, Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI joined the residents of Nyanza District in the Southern Province in the celebrations of the National Harvest Day, ceremonies that took place at King’s Palace in Rukari/Nyanza where he shared traditional meals and drinks with the population after touring different areas of this Palace.

On this day, Premier was accompanied by different senior officials including Minister of Culture and Sports Mr. Protais MITALI, Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Francois KANIMBA, some members of Parliament and Senate, the Governor of Southern Province Mr. Alphonse MUNYANTWALI, the Manager of Institute of National Museums of Rwanda(I.N.M.R) Mr. Alphonse UMULISA, Army and Police Commanders in the Southern Province, Mayor of Nyanza District Mr. Abdallah MURENZI and a large number of local residents that had come to celebrate this special day.
The Manager of I.N.M.R declared that well defined and clear strategies were set up in promoting the way of life of Rwandans before the coming of modernization, promoting tourism based economy and thanked all those from far or near have partnered with them especially Rwanda Agriculture Board(RAB) for having offered them “ INYAMBO” cows in October 2010 and underlined that these cows are a real symbol of the beauty of our country in the past.
Regarding the National Harvest Day, Governor Alphonse MUNYANTWALI declared that: “ This is a good time to sit back and recognize the harvest and all the achievements during this year” and asked all those that had come to celebrate this day to multiply their efforts in promoting revenues generating activities not only in agriculture and husbandry but all activities that lead to sustainable economy.
Minister of Sports and Culture Mr. Protais MITALI thanked all those that had attended to this special day and asked everybody to safeguard the history of the country and affirmed that: “This is a good time to promote friendship and brotherhood and to understand that we are all Rwandans.”
He also asked parents to teach their children the good manners and attitudes that characterized the history of our country and work always targeting to increase the harvest.
In his speech, Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI thanked all those from far or near have put their efforts together to make this special day happen and special thanks went straight to the management and entire team of Institute of National Museums of Rwanda(I.N.M.R) and highlighted that: “ We all know the value of our country, nothing can stop us from rejoicing, let us continue to uphold our dignity as Rwandans. This is a sign that we give value to our culture.”
Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI asked the leaders at all levels especially those that have the promotion of the culture in their attributions to help Rwandans to know and to safeguard the good things of our history and asked each and everyone to take this as his/her responsibility.
Premier also asked the leaders at all levels to take time to organize such events where they will meet with the population to rejoice for what they have achieved and share views on what can be done to safeguard our culture and reinforce brotherhood and patriotism.
