"WE ALL HAVE TO REMEMBER, WE SHALL ALWAYS REMEMBER" PRIME MINISTER HABUMUREMYI

Huye, 29th June, 2012

On Friday 29 June 2012 Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI joined the residents of Kinazi Sector and its neighboring areas at a place called SONGA in Huye District, Southern Province in remembrance of the victims of the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994.

On this day, Prime Minister was accompanied by different senior officials including Minister Protais MITALI having Culture and Sports in His attributions the Governor of Southern Province Mr. Alphonse MUNYANTWALI, the Mayor of Huye District Mr. Eugene MUZUKA, Army and Police Commanders in the Southern Province, Representatives of religious confessions and a large number of people that had come to join others in remembering the victims of these atrocities.

The Mayor of Huye District Eugene MUZUKA declared that 10, 978 were buried in dignity in this Memorial Site in which other 28,000 were already buried before and added that now 5 modern Memorial Sites were built in this District and this activity will continue in all Sectors of this District and thanked all that have contributed from far or near in the completion of this Memorial Site.

All the officials and the survivors of the Genocide against Tutsi in this area including Mr. Tharcisse SINZI and Serapie GATARI who shared their testimony on how they survived thanked the Government of Unity of Rwandans and former R.P.F Army for having stopped Genocide which and for all the efforts invested in supporting the survivors of this Genocide.

In his speech, Right Honorable Prime Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI thanked the residents of Huye District and Kinazi Sector in particular for having for having attended massively and called everybody to keep supporting the survivors of the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994 and to learn from the past to build a bright future.

Prime Minister also called people to support the clear vision of the Government of Unity and Reconciliation of Rwandans and congratulated Huye District and Southern Province in general for the efforts that were put in this activity of building modern Memorial Sites in order to bury the victims of the Genocide in all dignity and highlighted that this activity should continue.
