From Saturday 28th-Sunday 29th January 2012, Prime Minister of Rwanda Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI and his delegation were in Nyaruguru District of the Southern Province for a two days work visit.

In this visit, Right Prime Minister was accompanied by different senior officials of the country including the Minister in having refugees and disasters in his attributions General Marcel GATSINZI, the Minister of Youth Jean Philbert NSENGIMANA,and the Director in the cabinet of the Prime Minister Eugene BALIKANA, State Minister in the Ministry of Local Government in charge of Social Affairs and Community Development Madam Alvera MUKABARAMBA, the Governor of Southern Province Alphonse MUNYANTWALI, the Mayor of Nyaruguru District Francis HABITEGEKO among others.

In his welcome speech, the Mayor of Nyaruguru District Francis HABITEGEKO thank the Prime Minister and his delegation for having thought of visiting them and special thanks were addressed to His Excellency Paul KAGAME the President of the Republic of Rwanda for his caring heart, ready helping hand and support both moral, social and financial.

Still in his speech, Mr. Francis HABITEGEKO declared that Nyaruguru District is composed by 332 Villages, 72 Cells and 14 Sectors with a population 286, 737 living on a surface of 1010 square Kilometers and thank all the Permanent Secretaries in the Ministries of having offered 44 Jersey cows to vulnerable people from Cyahinda and Nyagisozi Sectors of this District.

In the ceremonies that took place in Cyahinda Sector, Right Prime Minister Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI who also joined the local residents of this Sector in the Community works especially in making the Kitchen Gardens told the residents of this District that His Excellency Paul KAGAME has blessed them with a special support of 66,000,000,000Rwf (66 Billion) that will be used in a 3 years period in different fields including Agriculture, Infrastructures, developing Kibeho town among others and told them that:“ This money will go straight into your pockets because you will work for it and will help you to overcome the drama of poverty that has been permanent in this District.”

MEETING WITH THE GRASS ROOT LEVEL LEADERS.

In the afternoon hours still on Saturday January 28th, Right Prime Minister Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI had a meeting with over 300 grass root leaders and different partners in the Development of this District and the staff from the Cell to the District level a meeting that took place in the conference hall of Pacis Hotel in Kibeho Sector.

To introduce this meeting, the Mayor of Nyaruguru District Mr. Francis HABITEGEKO told the guest of honor and his delegation that this District has made an important step in the development because 50% of the population exceeding 16 years is members of SACCO Financial Cooperatives with a capital of 100,000,000Rwf and savings of 500,000,000Rwf and over 86% have medical insurance (Mutuelle de Sante).

In this meeting, Premier Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI asked these leaders to do their best and promote the welfare of the population and their leadership, he called them not to sit in the offices and expect the population to come to them but to take time and approach the population in their respective Villages.
