ELECTIONS OF SENATORS WENT WELL IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE
Nyanza, 15th October, 2011 This Friday October 14th 2011 in the conference hall of Heritage Hotel in Nyanza District took place a meeting aiming at evaluation how the elections of Senators that were held on September 26-27, 2011 went in Southern Province.
This meeting had brought together the representatives of the National Commission of Election , the senior leaders of the Southern Province and all that participated either from far or near in these elections.
After exchanging ideas on how these elections went, everybody congratulated the National Electoral Commission for the well organized work they always do, good coordination, communication at all levels up to the evaluation of the results.
It was mentionned that the Southern Province had many candidates in these elections and Nyamagabe District was congratulated for having attended on time to these elections because at 9h00 a.m the corum was completed while in other Districts elections started at around 10h00 a.m
The result as announced by the National Electoral Commission ,the Southern Province had 16 candidates and out this figure, 3 Senators who will represent the Southern Province in the Senate for a mandate of 8 years had to be elected. The names of elected are Marie Claire MUKASINE, Jean Damascene BIZIMANA and Gallican NIYONGANA. In these elections, it was also planned to elect one person to represent Government Universities and Higher Education Institutions and the elected person is Prof. Emmanuel BAJYANA.About the Private Universities and Higher Education Institutions, the elected person to represent them in the Senate is Prof. Laurent NKUSI.
