On Sunday 19 June 2011 at Muhanga Regional Stadium started tournament among all the Districts of the Southern Province for the Promotion of Good Governance.

On this day, all the 8 Districts played in order to get 4 that will play the semifinal. The first match opposed Nyaruguru and Huye District and the score was 1-0 in favor of Nyaruguru District while the one between Nyanza and Ruhango District ended with the success of Nyanza that won the match with 1-0.

The third match was between Nyamagabe District and Muhanga which ended up with 0 on both sides but in penalty kicks Nyamagaye got 4 goals against 3 of Muhanga District while in the fourth one which was also the last Kamonyi District won with 2-1. In the interview with the Coordinator of Good Governance and Social Affairs in the Southern Province Mr. Jean Claude GAKUMBA he told us that this tournament happens every year and “this one aims at preparing the Liberation day that will take place on July 4th 2011. On Saturday June 18th 2011 at the Stadium of the National University took place the match of the semifinals that opposed Nyanza and Nyaruguru and the score was 1-0 in favor of Nyanza District. Another match of the semifinals is the one between Nyamagabe and Kamonyi Districts and Kamonyi won the match with 3 goals to 2.

For the finals, this Sunday at Nyanza Regional Stadium, Kamonyi played with Nyanza and the score was 2 goals to 0 in favor of Nyanza District. So, the Good Governance cup in the Southern Province 2011 was given to Nyanza District. Concerning the rewards, the first team was given a cup, a ball and sports wears, the Second team (Kamonyi) was blessed with sports wears and a ball while other teams were rewarded with a football each.

In her speech on this day and while closing officially this tournament, the Executive Secretary of the Southern Province Madam Jeanne IZABILIZA after handing over the cup to the winning team, she thank all the Districts for their efforts in promoting the Good Governance in this Province.

Madam Jeanne IZABILIZA also highlighted, that there is no looser or winner in this tournament but it is the Good Governance that won because the target for everybody is the promotion of Good Governance, “So, it is everyone’s success as it is the success of Good Governance”

We also have to mention that this Monday July 4th, 2011 Nyanza Football Club won the Champion Cup in the second division after beating Espoir from the Western Province in Rusizi District at a score of 2 goals to 0 which allowed this team to enter automatically in the first division know as Primus Primer league . So, besides the Cup of Good Governance, Nyanza District got also the Cup of Championship in two consecutive days.
